I don't know why this is so frustrating for me, but not being able to run at the pace I was before I got hurt SUCKS.
I ran 2 miles today.
Without stopping.
At a 9:56 pace.
This isn't the pace I want to run, but I think if I try to move any faster my lungs will explode and someone will have to drag me off the street like road kill. Not cool.
My goal for the week is to run 4-5 days, 2 or 3 miles each run.
Start out easy and get the miles in. I can work on my pace later.
I know this is 100% mental battle.
I have done this before...I can do it again.
So, Kiley at Daily Vitamin F has a holiday series of virtual runs. Obviously I bailed on the 5k I signed up for Saturday morning so I have to kinda redeem myself somehow and I think this would be the perfect start.
I think I have the Monday blues today. I want to be laying on the couch in my pj's drifting in and out of sleep while reruns of Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders plays on CMT.
7 school days until Thanksgiving vacation. I can do this!
What are your Thanksgiving plans?

You'll get back to your pace...I know it's frustrating! I mean hell, I'd be happy with a 9:56 pace!! So i still think you are awesome. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm going to Vegas for Thanksgiving! ha.
You're almost to your Thanksgiving break!! And I hear you on the being slower. I couldn't run for about 3 months, and my pace is a lot slower. But it sounds like you have a good plan- build up the mileage and with that, you'll increase your pace. :)
ReplyDeleteGirl, you will be back to your regular pace in no time! I have been getting slower and slower since I stopped running with Jessica, so I know how you feel.
ReplyDeleteGood job on running at all after the injury. I guess it'll just take patience - something I would really struggle with.
ReplyDeleteYou will get back there in no time, and remember, running burns the same amount of calories regardless of the pace! 6 days till break!
